It can be a lot of fun to own an eye-catching ride if you learn how to accessorize it properly. Keep reading for everything you need to know about customizing your vehicle for business or pleasure.
Customized Car Decals Are a Business Essential
When you compare the cost model of customized vehicle stickers and decals with traditional advertising, they are easily the most cost-effective way to promote your business. Once you have your decals and marketing plan ready, there is no further cost to renew an online ad, magazine, newspaper, radio, or TV advertisement. Your customized decals will consistently carry your brand across all markets for a one-time fee.
For example, your local newspaper will charge about $11 per inch for an ad. Unfortunately, this advertising cost is a one-time opportunity for your name to be out there without retaining any ongoing branding presence.
When you are branding your product or service, vinyl vehicle decals allow you to promote your business in an eye-catching fashion that is recurring.

Can You Put New Decals Over Old Decals?
If you have existing decals on your automobile, make sure the old decal and all residual adhesive have been removed from the surface before application. To lift the old decal, use a chisel or x-acto knife to lift the edge of the decal while slowly pulling to remove it. You may need to apply heat to help loosen the adhesive for easier removal. If the decal is old and cracked, using a vinyl removing product will help remove the decal and any residual adhesive.
How to Apply a New Car Decal
Applying a custom vehicle decal is simple and easy. When you are ready to apply your decal, you may need the following items:
- Auto body squeegee
- Microfiber cloth
- Spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol
Regardless of the application method, you will need to clean the area of your car thoroughly where you will apply the decal. A clean surface ensures the adhesive sticks to your vehicle and creates a strong bond. When cleaning your vehicle for decal application, wash with soapy water, rinse thoroughly and then dry using a chamois or other car-safe towel.
Prepare the decal for application by going over it with the auto body squeegee to help the paper release from the back. Park your vehicle in a wind-free area to prevent dirt and debris from flying onto the surface before application. A wind-free environment also makes the decal easier to handle. If you are applying a large decal, it is helpful to have another person assist you.
Peel and Stick Method
With this method, you remove the paper from the back of the decal and then apply the decal to the vehicle surface working from one side to the other. Use the auto body squeegee or a credit card to push out any trapped air bubbles under the decal. Once you have the decal smoothed into place, remove the application tape at the top of the decal. Work carefully from the top corner down to prevent damage to the decal.
